Memphis, Tenn. \u2013 Evangel softball team opened its 2015 campaign with a split against NCAA II Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tenn. Evangel won the first game 10-4 but fell in game two 9-4.<\/p>\n
The Crusaders won game one on strength of two three run home runs.\u00a0Kasie Zukow<\/a>\u00a0hit a three run homer in the third as part of a five-run inning for the Crusaders.\u00a0Kiara Carrier<\/a>\u00a0hit her three run shot with two outs in the fifth that put Evangel in front 9-3.\u00a0\u00a0 Carrier went 3 for 4 in the game with a double, home run and four RBIs.<\/p>\n Sophomore\u00a0Michaela Tolliver<\/a>\u00a0picked up the win going six innings allowing four runs, one earned and eight hits.<\/p>\n The Crusaders started game two where they left off with a two run first inning.\u00a0\u00a0Megan Washam<\/a>\u00a0hit a two run home run with one out scoring\u00a0Cassidy Gillihan<\/a>.\u00a0 A six run second inning for Christian Brothers followed by a three run third inning put Evangel in a 9-2 hole.\u00a0 Washam added a RBI triple in Evangel’s two run seventh too close the gap to 9-4.<\/p>\n Taylor Kistor got the loss for Evangel in her collegiate debut allowing five earned runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out two in 4.2 innings.<\/p>\n Evangel travels to Batesville, Arkansas on Saturday to take on Lyon (Ark.) in a doubleheader.\u00a0 Game time is noon for the first of two games.<\/p>\n
